University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG)
The University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) is Hong Kong's oldest museum, established in 1953, and houses one of the finest collections of Chinese art and antiquities in the region. This hidden gem on the HKU campus offers a serene cultural escape with over 1,800 paintings and calligraphy works, ancient bronzes, and ceramics spanning thousands of years of Chinese history. Must-sees include the Nestorian Cross Collection, the Xubaizhai Collection, and the Ancient Bronze Gallery. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free. Closed on Mondays, public holidays, and university holidays.
