The Qing Dynasty (1644–1911) was a Manchu-ruled regime whose military foundation was built upon rigorous military organization, excellent military technology, and a unique martial spirit. The Forbidden City, as the political and military center, carries over 200 years of Qing Dynasty military memory, fully reflecting the Manchu inheritance of martial traditions, absorption and innovation of military technology, and the cultural approach to creating ritual systems. It is a rich treasury of traditional military culture. The exhibition displays approximately 190 Qing Dynasty imperial military artifacts from the Palace Museum collection, including helmets, bows and arrows, swords, horse equipment, paintings, textiles, books, and scientific instruments among many categories of rich artifacts. The exhibition is divided into six units: 'Rise of the Eight Banners', 'Swords of the Realm', 'Archery and Firearms', 'Military Drills and Ceremonies', 'History Through Images', and 'Coastal Defense'. Through rich artifacts and diverse perspectives, it presents the development of Qing Dynasty military organization, technology, and art, enhancing the audience's understanding of Qing Dynasty military culture. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Palace Museum to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Palace Museum. The exhibition is exclusively sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
